FM meets with Crown Prince of Netherlands

HA NOI — Foreign Minister Nguyen Dy Nien expressed pleasure at the positive development of friendly ties and multifaceted co-operation between Viet Nam and the Netherlands.
He was speaking at a meeting with Crown Prince Willem Alexander of the Netherlands in Ha Noi on Tuesday.
Thanking the Dutch Government and the Crown Prince for their valuable support in promoting relations between the two countries, Nien lauded the policy of the Netherlands to provide preferential development assistance to the country, particularly in managing water resources and preventing calamities. The foreign minister also thanked the Dutch Government for its valuable assistance through effective co-operation projects.
The FM asked the Crown Prince and the Dutch Government for support to map out concrete measures promoting co-operation between the two countries in the future, particularly in trade and investment.
In his reply, the Crown Prince expressed admiration for the great socio-economic achievements of the Vietnamese people during the renewal period, and said the land and its people had left a lasting impression on him.
He complimented the success of the Netherlands-Viet Nam co-operation project on water management in Ha Noi, Nam Dinh and Thanh Hoa provinces, and pledged to mobilise support of the Dutch Government for Viet Nam’s national development and give Viet Nam priority in providing development assistance.
The Crown Prince, an expert in water management, said he would actively support co-operation projects in this area between the two countries in the future.
Deputy Foreign Minister Le Cong Phung and Dutch Ambassador to Viet Nam Adre Haspels were also party to these talks. Later on the same day, the foreign minister hosted a banquet in honour of the Crown Prince and the Dutch delegation. — VNS
